The GHMC remains in the bad books of the citizens, but here is a classic case where in the corporation is drawing in applause. Thanks to a sapling planted by the authorities a few years ago, it has grown into a tree that shields scores of commuters at the Langer Houz bus stop.
The absence of a bus shelter is always a cause of worry for local commuters, though it brims with people all through the day and a good part of the evenings. Yet there is no facility for people to sit comfortably or at least take shelter in times of adverse weather conditions.
“The tree serves as a shelter for the past many months, if not for the tree waiting for the bus would have been a difficult task,” says Murali, a student.
“The authorities should have put up a shelter considering the attendance at the place, but hardly do they care for the people,” says Umakanth, a private employee.
Though there is enough shade at the bus stop thanks to the tree, but standing and waiting for a bus remains to be a difficult task for senior citizens. The people can be seen adjusting themselves on the pavements.
