Department of B.Com.(Bank Management), D.G. Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam, has been innovative in offering ‘Retail Banking Operations' as part of its curriculum for the final year student in their VI semester. They have entered into a tie-up with the IFBI who are authorised licence holder for conducting training programme on ‘Finacle' (Retail Banking Software) developed by INFOSYS and is widely used by nationalised banks.

The training programme was organised recently at the college in which Chandrasekar (IFBI professional) explained to the students through a Power Point Presentation, the intricate aspects of the programme. M.R. Vasudevan, Head of the Department of B.Com. (Bank Management) proudly shared that D.G. Vaishnav College is the one and only college in entire South India to offer this course, designed selectively to enhance the employability of the students. The Department is considering setting up a ‘Banking Laboratory' in line with the Maths and Science Labs that would be of immense help to the student community.

Jinu Krishnan, class representative of final year B.B.M., says: “Retail Banking Operations' has offered us an excellent scope to gain practical knowledge about the various banking operations.” Principal of the college, S. Narasimhan said that this course has been offered to the final year students of Bank Management to enable them gain insights into the day to day banking operations.

Thanks to the extraordinary concern shown by the secretary of the college Mr. P. Haridas who has always been their main source of support in transforming the students into industry-ready at the end of their study here.

The entire expenditure on this training programme, which will run into a few lakhs of rupees, will be met by the management, said Mr. Narasimhan.
