TIES: It’s St. Joseph’s all the way at Hosur

Boys and girls of St. Joseph’s College of Engineering won a handful of trophies, shields and prizes during the annual Tamil Nadu Inter-Engineering Sports (TIES 2013) festival conducted by the Adiayamman College at Hosur. The college claimed the overall championships for the 11{+t}{+h}successive year with a tally of 124 points (68 for men and 56 for women). As many as 139 institutions took part in the competitions.

The women’s contingent finished on top with 56 points, It won the championships in table tennis, chess and kabaddi and finished second in table tennis, tennis and volleyball. It also took the third place in ball badminton and basketball.

In the men’s section, St. Joseph’s won the trophies in table tennis and kabaddi, finished second in football, tennis, volleyball, ball badminton, chess and best physique and third in weight lifting.

In track and field the men secured 71 points to top the board while the women gleaned 134 points.

The players were felicitated by Babu Manoharan, Managing Director, St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, on return from Hosur.
