Spreading cheer among underprivileged kids

The Rotary Club of Chennai Velachery celebrated Deepavali at the Sai Samithi located at 13th Main Road, Vijaya Nagar, Velachery. Club president V. Balasundaram, along with several members of the RCCV took part in the celebrations.

Children from the local Chennai Higher Secondary School, St. Antony's School and other neighbouring schools participated in the function. Sweets and savouries were distributed to them to celebrate the event.

“This event helps us to whip up the festival mood,” said K. Natarajan, secretary of the Rotary Club of Chennai Velachery.

Free tuition

Sai Samithi regularly conducts free tuition classes for underprivileged students studying in classes III to Plus 2 .

“Some of them have secured admission in reputed engineering colleges too,” said Kala Mohan, a chartered accountant and resident of Vijaya Nagar who is one of the several volunteers regularly coaching the children to excel in their studies.
