Lions Clubs International District 316E conducted a seminar on Human Rights in India at Ravidnra Bharathi recently in commemoration of the International Human Rights Day.

Dr K.S. Chalam of National Human Rights Commission, Lion A. Linga Reddy, District Governor, Lions Clubs International, District 316E and P.S.N.Murthy, Additional Director General, Planning Commission of India participated in the seminar.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Chalam said the formation of National Human Rights Commission in India has led to enhanced awareness on the subject. The need is for educated sections of the society to come forward and lead the cause towards ensuring Human Rights to all sections of the society. Media also plays a role of educating people on Human Rights, he said.

Lion Linga Reddy, who presided over the seminar spoke on the efforts being put in to serve the needy sections of the society by the lions clubs, indirectly reaching out to those sections of society which are denied the basic human rights. Lion B. Mallesh, Secretary, Lions District, Lion Narra Ravi, Lion Shakeel Ahmed were present on the occasion, said a press release.
