The Department of Commerce, University of Madras, under the auspices of Madras University Commerce Alumni Association organised a lecture session on ‘Emerging Trends in Global Business Environment’ recently.

Justin Paul, Professor, Foster School of Management, University of Washington, said that globalisation has changed the perceptions of different sectors in India. He specifically mentioned that education, insurance, textiles and tourism were gaining prominence. A corporate firm has to adapt it self to change for its survival and growth. He emphasised on engineering skills, English skills, and education which would give a competitive edge to Indians. The programme was attended by research scholars and students from the Department of Commerce and Management Studies. S. Gurusamy, Head, Department of Commerce, welcomed the gathering. R. Shanthi, Assistant Professor of the department proposed a vote of thanks.
