Schools collect relief fund for flood victims

Students of two city schools organised an event recently at Visveswaraya Tower Park, Anna Nagar, to pay tribute to victims of the Uttarakhand floods.

As many as 100 students of Kaligi Ranganathan Montford Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Perambur, and Shree Niketan Group of Schools, Tiruvallur, distributed pamphlets asking people to donate for the victims.

Professor Venkatesh, one of the members to return to the city after the floods stuck the State, narrated how he escaped the tragedy to the students. Approximately Rs.1.8 lakh was collected for the purpose.
