The Teachers Colony in Marredpally has another addition. There is a make shift vegetable market on Saturday afternoons, that is proving to a blessing for the vegetable vendors and the buyers.

There are many people who are buying vegetables here instead of going to a fancy super market or the regular vegetable market near the Secunderabad station.

Says a customer, “Though this market just started about a couple of months ago, there is good response. Many people are turning up to buy vegetables and fruits here.”

“The vegetables are fresh and there is a good deal of bargaining that can happen at such markets only. We can't haggle in super markets it is only here, we can really get a good bargain,” says Renuka a housewife, who lives nearby.

Says Ramakrishna who sells vegetables here, “I am able to make a decent profit here. Though it is just recently that we started selling here, I can do good business if people start buying here every week”.

Even though the main market is not very far from here, this kind of market is not here in any of these localities. Most of the residents have to either go to the super markets or the markets at Bowenpally or Secunderabad.

With Teachers Colony being a primarily residential area, there is no dearth of customers.

Even though these vegetable hawkers sell their ware on either side of the roads, just displaying their stuff on plastic sheets, there is no shortage of patrons for them.
