Sanskrit language is considered the store house of cultural values and traditions of India. Samskrita Bharati is an NGO dedicated to spread Sanskrit. A novel methodology has been evolved by them to teach spoken Sanskrit. Over the past 20 years more than one lakh people across the State have learnt to speak in Sanskrit throiugh the efforts of Samskrita Bharati.

Samskrita Bharati has planned to conduct 65 such spoken Sanskrit classes through out the city from August 1 to 10. A grand valedictory function is also planned on August 14, which will also mark the celebration of 'Sanskrit day' announced by the Union Government. Classes will be conducted in various parts of the city including, Tambaram, Chromepet, Nanganallur, Adambakkam, Adyar, Thiruvanmiyur, Mylapore, Alwarpet, T.Nagar, West Mambalam, Annanagar, Vadapalani and Perambur. These ten days spoken Sanskrit classes will be followed by certificate courses in Bhagavad Gita and fundamentals of Sanskrit.
