Competition was intense and visual impairment was no deterrent to the 67-odd participants in the annual state chess championship organised by the Tamil Nadu Chapter of the National Association of the Blind at the JN Stadium.

Sponsored by Trans Shipping Ltd. the 10th edition of the event reflected the enthusiasm of the players and the commitment of the men and women who were behind conducting the event.

S.T. Sai Krishan of the St.Louis School emerged the champion followed by M. Bharath.

Shakeel Akhtar, Additional Commissioner of Police (L and O) presided and gave away the trophy in the presence of Ms.Renuka Mohan Rao, General Manager, IOB, and Ms. Alagu Muthu, President, Tamil Nadu Chapter of the National Association of the Blind.

Grand Master Bhaskaran Adiban inaugurated the championship.

The top 10 finishers are: S.T.Sai Krishan, M.Bharath, T.Arul, R.Vignesh, Dr.K.Muthuraman, B.Rajkumar, V.Vijaykanth, V.Mahendran, S.Bhagyaraj and S. Nagendran.
