Rotary Club of Chennai Velachery undertook a project to renovate the washroom amenities at Government Higher Secondary School, Velachery. The project was sponsored by Ajmani and family, President of Rotary Club of Monroeville Sunrise, Pitsburgh (USA).

Ramesh Krishnamurthy, Past president of the club, took the initiative to tie up the funds and kick-started the work a month ago.

Inauguration

On August 10, V. Raja Seenivasan, District Governor RI District -3230 and R. Srinivasan, Director (New Generations) RI District -3230 inaugurated the renovated washroom . In his address, Mr. Raja Seenivasan spoke about the importance of sanitation and hygiene.

He appreciated the members of the club for taking up and executing such a key project in the start of the New Rotary Year.

V. Sriram, president of Rotary Club of Chennai Velachery said that project execution and delivery is critical to success. Many members of the club have worked for this project and he thanked them for their time and efforts to make the a successful one. Certainly this facility will address the need for neat and clean washrooms in the school and will go a long way in reducing disease outbreaks by improving sanitation in the community.

Jupiter, Assistant Head Master, Government Higher Secondary School, Velachery, said that Rotary Clubs has been supporting the school for many years.

Sasikala, co-coordinator, along with Interact Club members of the school, Rotary Club presidents and members of Rotary Community Corps, Udhayam Nagar, Velachery, were present during the inauguration. Subramaniam, Director (New Generations), Rotary Club of Chennai Velachery, made arrangements for the event and A.S. Prabagar, Secretary Rotary Club of Chennai Velachery proposed a vote of thanks.
