The folk paintings known as ‘Patachitras' make lovely wall hangings which had once been a source of education for the rural folk.

Mythological themes

The Patas usually have mythological themes from Mahabharata, Ramayana and stories of God and Goddesses like Radha-Krishna and Jagannatha. The canvas prepared by an indigenous method produces a surface of leathery quality on which the artist has painted with earth and store colors known as vegetable dye.

Rajasthan Craft Fair is holding an exhibition cum sale of such beautiful items at Sri Sankara Hall, 281, T.T.K.Road, Alwarpet, from November 19.

Antique items

One can also get collection of Chettinad antique items, terracotta items from Kolkata, wood carvings from Jodhpur, teakwood from Hoshiarpur, black metal from Hyderabad.
