The folk paintings known as ‘Patachitras' make lovely wall hangings which had once been a source of education for the rural folk.
The Patas usually have mythological themes from Mahabharata, Ramayana and stories of God and Goddesses like Radha-Krishna and Jagannatha. The canvas prepared by an indigenous method produces a surface of leathery quality on which the artist has painted with earth and store colors known as vegetable dye.
