Konda Sahadev from Bapuji Nagar of Musheerabad in the city has traversed a long way to London and came back with his head held high – winning a bronze in the UK Open Taekwondo championship. A remarkable feat for someone who is so low profile. Winning the bronze in the 50-55 kg senior fin weight category in the championship has clearly made him look really far head.

“I am delighted. Honestly, I never thought that I would come back with a medal. It was a great experience of competing with some of the best in the business,” says the modest Sahadev.

Incidentally, this is the not the first international medal for the Hyderabadi as he in February this year he won a bronze in the 14th Asian Gold Cup, another one in Malaysian Championship in August.

Buoyed by the success story in London, Sahadev should not be faulted when he turns his focus to the 2012 London Olympics.

Aiming big

“I know that it will be a dream come true to compete in that Games. But, there is nothing in aiming big and making the desired efforts,” says the confident a confident martial arts exponent. Under the watchful guidance of his mentor and coach M. Jayanth Reddy who is is interestingly teaching his ward 100 techniques in how to win the gold in the Olympics. Well, if dream turn into a reality, that will mean joy not just to Sahadev but to the entire country too!
