Colourful procession by 400 students from Sri Anandhapadmanaba Swamy Temple, Adyar, and a wonderful invocation song marked the prize distribution function of Sri Krishna Jayanthi competition for students, which was held at Dr. MGR Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women, R.A. Puram, on November 13. The competitions were conducted at 30 centres on 28 subjects involving 17,975 students.

Director of Fire and Rescue Services R. Nataraj, while distributing prizes to the winners, stressed the importance of this programme, which was aimed at character building among the students. He said that youngsters should respect elders and teachers. Swami Vimrutananda of Sri Ramakrishna Mutt asked the students to adhere to morals stipulated by our ancestors.

Former bureaucrat V. Sundaram told stories about Lord Krishna to inspire the large number of children assembled at the hall. The programme was attended by working president, Sri Krishna Jayanthi Celebrations Committee, S. Ganapathy, and former bureaucrat, V. Ramamoorty. S. Sripall, president of the committee, presided and joint secretary, M.J. Thulasi Ram, read out the annual report.
