The 20th annual general body meeting of Chitlapakkam Muthulakshmi Nagar Welfare Association was held on December 26. Secretary S. Kannan submitted the report for the year 2010 and treasurer C.S. Venkatesh presented the audited accounts. The report and accounts were passed after discussion.

The members appreciated activities such as opening of park, inauguration of website for the association, relaying of few roads, etc while expressing unhappiness about the garbage clearance by Chitlapakkam Town Panchayat. They also insisted the association to press for share auto and mini bus from Chitlapakkam.

The members also elected their office-bearers for the calendar year 2011-2012: president L. Sundararaman; vice-presidents-V.L. Narasimhan and V. Ramajeyam; secretary R. Seshadri; joint secretaries-R.M. Easwaran and V. Venkataraman; treasurer C.S. Venkatesh and assistant treasurer S. Venkatesan.

Chitlapakkam Town Panchayat president R.Mohan and Council member R. Karunamoorthy visited Muthulakshmi Nagar on January 8, and interacted with the newly elected office bearers. Residents' representatives requested them to find a permanent solution for the garbage issue in the locality as many street corners have become garbage godown. They also requested to make lighting arrangement in the newly opened park.

Mr. Mohan promised to do the needful and informed that Pugazhendhi Street and Advocate Janakiraman Street are likely to be converted into cement concrete streets. He also appreciated the association for the smooth co ordination with town panchayat and assured to extend co operation in the development of Muthulakshmi Nagar.
