Madras Round Table – 1 (MRT 1), recently handed over cheques to various organisations. World Chess Champion Anand Viswanathan gave away the cheque worth Rs. 25 lakhs to Dr. Shanta of Cancer Institute, Adyar, Rs. 9.5 lakhs to Ms. Narayanswamy, Trustee, Seva Samajam, Rs. 1 lakh for Jeeva n Blood and Rs. 50,000 to Dignity Foundation.

Arvind Swamy, Chairman, MRT 1, said, “We are delighted to play a significant role in the welfare of the community at large. This was possible through the various fund raising programmes such as fashion sale — retailing of clothes donated by top designers in the country, art sale — sale of art through exhibitions throughout the country and online trade, individual sponsorship - through personal association for “Sponsor a Child” and Anupam Kher's show ‘Kuch Bi Ho Sakta Hai,' etc.”

“A distinctive feature of the Table's drives is that all funds raised for community service are channelled directly to projects. Overheads are borne by the members, ensuring that every rupee generated towards a cause finds its way to the people that need it the most,” he added.

Anand Viswanathan while handing over the cheques complimented the Round Tablers and applauded their yeoman services to the society.
