It has been two weeks since the median in front of St Ann's School, Tarnaka, has been barricaded preventing entry from Vijaypuri and taking a right turn to Tarnaka. The alternate entry to Tarnaka is by going under the Lalapet fly over and join the traffic from Moula-Ali towards Tarnaka.
When the authorities closed this median, it did prevent traffic snarls at the entrance of St Ann's School. However, the solution to prevent these traffic snarls is beyond anybody's imagination.
The road under the fly-over is barely vehicle friendly. Rain water always stagnates there, and the place is a haven for all kinds of anti social activities. What would take to cross a of 100 ft road now would take nearly about 1/3 rd of km with the barricading.
Ideally when a solution is provided, it should be a solution, not become another problem. Especially going under the fly-over at night is really a trouble some issue, for the place is dark, dingy and often with vagabonds and drunkards.
So now there are only three ways to enter Tarnaka, one is from under the Tarnaka fly over and the other is from under the Lalapet fly over and one near the Tarnaka junction.
Here with the narrow median and oncoming traffic it becomes a night mare to take a right turn at normal times. With the closure of the entry, this has become the only way to go to the opposite side. To prevent traffic snarls at the school entrance, traffic lights could have been installed or even manned by a constable. But they chose to simply barricade it. It is not the solution; it is just pushing it under the carpet. If one wants to enter Vijaypuri or go to Lalapet, one has to go up to Tarnaka Junction and then take a right turn, which is not very conducive because of the traffic that is there.
