Everwin Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kolathur, conducted various games and sports events for the students’ mothers. As many as 2,000 women took part in the event which was organised with an objective to make them understand the importance of sports for a healthy living.

Events such as musical chair, ball passing, running race, tug-of-war and lucky corner were conducted. “It was a rare occasion where mothers had an opportunity to share their school and college life experiences.

Employed mothers and housewives in the age group of 25 to 40 vied with each other and showed tremendous competitive spirit by participating in several events,” V. Mageswari, the school CEO, said.

It was also an occasion for the students to watch and admire the sporting skills of their mothers.

The nearly three-hour programme culminated with prize distribution function in which the winners received prizes such as microwave oven, mobile phones, wet-grinders, sofa sets, mixies and other domestic appliances which were sponsored by retailers in and around Perambur and Kolathur.

Ms. Mageswari said in all 640 prizes were given and a special lucky draw was conducted in which 50 prizes worth Rs. 65,000 were given to the participants by the school management. “The event will be celebrated every year hereafter and the participants are eagerly looking forward to the next festival as many of them said that they will perform better next time,” she added.
