As part of the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Swami Vivekananda, a mathematics laboratory has been inaugurated at Ramakrishna Mission Students Home.
It was inaugurated by KV. Subrahmanyam, senior vice-president, Healthcare, HCL Technologies Limited, and Srimathi Shivashankar, associate vice-president, HCL Technologies Limited, in the presence of Swami Satyajnanananda, secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Students’ Home; Sri Chandrasekar Bharathi, vice-president, Healthcare, HCL Technologies Limited, N. Ramadurai, vice-president, School Learning Solutions, NIIT; and industrialist Nalli Kuppuswami Chettiar and P.R. Vittal, mathematician and former principal, RKM Vivekananda College.
The laboratory is a joint initiative between Ramakrishna Mission Students Home and HCL Technologies. The corporate firm has come forward to meet the entire cost of Rs.5.5 lakh for the lab project.
Approximately 450 students of the home will be benefited through this lab. Volunteers from HCL Technologies will help the students to learn the nuances of mathematics.
The lab is equipped with teaching and learning aids, measuring instruments, tables, charts, technology applications and others in a an ambience which helps in better understanding of mathematics.
The laboratory and its activities are designed in such a way that it encourages students to think various concepts of the subject.
