As Sunday turns out to be a lazy day for many Hyderabadis, it's a gifted time for a section of people, who make a beeline to the Erragadda Sunday market.

No, they are not interested in buying the poultry or pre-owned goods sold at the place nor to select some apparel from the stalls that have of late found their way to the market.

But they are headed to the scores of footwear stalls that promise some cheaper, yet durable stuff.

The Sunday market at Erragadda is now turning out to be a preferred spot for those looking for some cheaply priced yet durable footwear.Numerous stalls that sell different varieties of footwear have found their way to the market over a period of time and record a good turnout of people. Students, employees, senior citizens, labourers form part of the crowd.

Right from fancy to sports footwear, sandals and chappals, one can select from a horde of merchandise dumped around at the place. “The merchandise is bought in bulk from different factories in Nacharam in the city and from adjoining States, so we sell it at a cheaper price,” reveals Md. Sikander, a stall owner.

“The footwear is durable and is affordably priced, to be frank we cannot afford to visit the branded stores and hence vie for some good piece from the dump,” says M. Prasad, a sales executive.

If the budget does not permit you to go for a new one, there are stalls put up by the cobblers who sell second hand shoes.

“In no manner do these shoes look second hand, in most cases they are branded shoes donated to class IV employees at offices and houses,” says Ramkishore, a cobbler.
