Lucas-TVS CEO felicitated

At a felicitation function organised by the National Institution for Quality & Reliability (NIQR) on January 2, the Chief Executive Officer, Lucas-TVS Limited, Chennai, N. Ravichandran was felicitated for his recent achievement of being elected to the rank of ‘Academician' by the International Academy for Quality (IAQ).

According to organisers, he is the second Indian and 58 {+t} {+h} in the world to be elected for this position.

From India, Dr. N. Ravichandran is the second professional to get the recognition, the first being Janak Mehta, chairman, Asian Network for Quality.

The function was presided over by V. Krishnamurthy, Chairman, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council, and attended by leading dignitaries such as T.K. Balaji, MD, Lucas-TVS Limited and Janak Mehta, Board Director-IAQ, Delhi. A .Sajeevara Rao, National President, NIQR, welcomed the gathering.

Former presidents S. Nagarajan, S. Seetharamaiah, K.N. Krishnamurthy, V.R. Janardhanam, and R. Mahadevan were also recognised by conferring Fellowship for their significant contribution for the promotion of quality.

Dr. Krishnamurthy, in his speech, emphasised that this century belongs to India and this is the time Indian organisation should promote quality across the country. “What India wants is total integrated quality movement. To achieve that, it is necessary to have a national level body as front office in India to deal with international quality associations and organisations,” Dr Krishnamurthy said.

Mr. Janak Mehta traced the work done by Dr. Ravichandran and the reason for electing him to the rank of academician.

S. Ramachandran, National Secretary, NIQR, proposed a vote of thanks.
