Lollypop Children's Club, Teynampet, was inaugurated on November 13. The inauguration was marked by Children's Day celebration.

Children and their parents participated in various programmes hosted by the club.

Children were excited when they were invited by Dora and Teddy Bear characters.

There was a balloon sculpting event and the resource person created various forms such as puppies, sword, poodle, etc, according to taste of children.

This was followed by a story telling session. Children were asked to create their own flavour of cookies and they expressed it on paper with crayon. At the Tattoo and Creative Corner, children were asked to make a doll and draw tattoos on their hands.

About the club

The club is focussing on many after-school activities such as story-telling, yoga, chess, and dance classes. Art and craft, child empowerment programme, tuition classes, language classes and bhajans are also held. The faculty at the club will have stalwarts from diverse fields to handle the sessions.

Dance classes are being organised in association with Dance India Dance - L'il Masters Academy from Zee Group. The club is at KIDZEE Preschool, New No. 9, Cenotaph I Street, Teynampet. Ph: 87544 05577.

Lakshmipuram Children's Club

Lakshmipuram Children's Club conducted a drawing competition on Children's Day at Lakshmi Hall, (Srinivasa Perumal Koil), Lakshmipuram, Royapettah.

It was held in three levels — ‘My Garden'/'I loveNature' for the sub-junior and junior categories and ‘My role in preserving nature' for the senior category. There was also a non-competitive colouring activity for the tiny-tots.

A.C. Rajasekaran, artist, graced the occasion and gave away the prizes. As many as 55 children participated in the event.

The club was started by the Women's Forum of Lakshmipuram in April 2008.

It is a neighbourhood club, which provides an opportunity for the children of the area to showcase their talent, learn presentation skills and also get to interact with experts in various fields and learn through the interaction. So far, the club has conducted around 15 programmes spanning different topics such as story telling, Thirukkural and Bharatiar songs.
