The Tamil Nadu women created a sort of history in the national basketball championship when they won a silver medal at Ludhiana.
This is the first time that Tamil Nadu has won a silver in the National going down eventually to the formidable Indian Railways. The TN women demonstrated their prowess by overcoming a stiff challenge in the semi-final against Chattisgarh and matched the champion, Railways, point for point, and went down by a difference of 20 points (102-82). Raja Priyadarshni, Apoorva Muralinath, M.Adhirai and Soniya Joy were outstanding for TN in the whole competition.
