The Himayathsagar Park continues to be in a neglected state even though its compatriot Osmansagar Park has been given a face lift. Broken benches, barren grounds and missing basic amenities greet a visitor at this place.

This park being nearer to the southern and the south west parts of the city draws in good crowds on weekends. The attendance to the park got a fillip after the approach roads to the facility got a face lift as they alternatively connect the Shamshabad International Airport.

“The place is registering a good attendance, but except for a few benches it hardly offers any place for families to sit around,” says Amit, a petty vendor.

“Unable to find any comforting space, the families drive a little ahead to the Osmansagar, a little initiative can help retain the crowds,” says Nadeemullah Baig, a picnicker.

The park is spread around a vast area but is devoid of any lawns, benches, toilets or drinking water facilities. “The ambience at the Osmansagar is other wise, we have no objection if any entrance fee is fixed to the premise,” says Karunakar Reddy, a realtor from Rajendranagar.

The park is presently serving as a grazing ground for stray animals that loiter around the premise and gobble off of the existing flora. A little initiative and small investment can bring in back its lost glory, is the common refrain.
