Ozone depletion is a crucial environmental problem. In order to spread awareness , the C.T.T.E Alumnae Association of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women celebrated “International Ozone Day” on September 17, at Perambur.
Posters were displayed on the consequences of ozone depletion and the steps one must take to protect from overexposure to UV radiation. As the main cause for depletion is chlorofluorocarbons, students took an oath to stop buying all products that contain ozone depletion substances. A drawing competition was conducted on “Impact of Global warming” and tree saplings were planted in the college campus. The Alumni donated saplings to the present students, who have entrusted the responsibility of nurturing them.
