Pasumai Thayagam, a wing of Pattali Makkal Katchi, joining hands with National Service Scheme volunteers of A.M. Jain College, Meenambakkam, celebrated National Green Day recently on the college premises. As part of the programme, an exhibition on ‘Environment Protection’ was organised by the students, which spelt out the threat for the Planet Earth in the name of development. There was a section dedicated for ‘Obesity Prevention’, which sounded the dangers of being obese.
Former Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Anbumani Ramadoss, inaugurated the exhibition. A.K. Moorthy, former Union Minister of State for Railways, participated and encouraged the students to be more productive in protecting environment from pollution.
Kancheepuram District Organising Secretary of Pasumai Thayagam Chromepet, N. Kannan, presided over the inaugural session and Kancheepuram District Deputy Organising Secretary of Pasumai Thayagam, J. Balu, gave a brief note on the importance of organising this exhibition and advised the students that protecting environment should be part of their daily affairs. NSS Coordinator, N. Elangovan, welcomed the gathering. College principal, R. Narasimhan, felicitated the NSS volunteers for organising the event.
