Shree Motilal Kanhaiyalal Fomra Institute of Technology (SMK FIT) recently conducted its Seventh Graduation Day celebration at its premises in OMR.
Prof. T.T. Narendran, Management Studies, IIT Madras, conferred degrees on 389 students.
T.S. Rangarajan, Global Head - RFID, Tata Consultancy Services, and Sunderlal Fomra, Chairman; Srikumar Fomra, Correspondent and Trustee; and Dr. R. Raja, Principal, of the college were present.
In his graduation day address, Prof. T.T. Narenderan advised the students on the need for becoming entrepreneurs.
“Even though risks are there, the refund will be manifold. In the current scenario, the present graduates have the luxury of taking more risks,” he added.
During April/May 2011, 429 students of the institute appeared for the exams.
A total of 389 students, including 287 under-graduates and 102 post-graduates across the departments of BME, CSE, ECE, EEE, and IT passed out.
The graduated batch has produced 83 distinction ranks (41 in UG and 42 in PG) including the Gold Medallist M. Adilakshmi of M.E. Computer Science.
The management honoured the rank holders with medals and cash prizes.
As many as 85 per cent of the eligible graduates were recruited by leading companies, including Infosys, CTS, TCS, Syntel, and Wipro.
SMK FIT Engineering College, established in 2001 in a sprawling area of 25 acres, offers eight under-graduate and 3 post-graduate engineering programmes to 1745 students.
