The roadsides are turning an ideal spot for small farmers and traders to sell off their produce directly to people and make some extra money. If it is the palm kernels that are being sold on the Khajaguda road, fresh groundnuts are attracting people to stop and buy on the roadsides of Raidurg.
While driving through the Raidurg road that leads to many new colonies and IT offices one sees people invariably stopping over to buy the fresh groundnuts being sold at the place by the villagers from the district of the Warangal.
These villagers sit on the roadsides from early mornings till late evenings and attract many families and individuals passing by the road for the product that has to be otherwise brought in from the regular vegetable markets.
These groundnuts are sold by the villagers who come to city from the Warangal and adjoining districts and carry on their trade.
“A few farmers give us a few bags on credit and later come to city and collect the money.
In certain cases they camp in the district. Being from the same villages or mandals there is mutual understanding and trust that helps us going,” says Bheema, a one of the vendor.
“The sales are more in the evening time when people start returning home from office. We don't weigh the product but give it approximately. We measure it using baby food containers of half kilogram,” says Danamma, a vendor.
The sale of such products on the roadsides is working out to be convenient for the people. “Earlier I used to depend on my relatives who used to bring along with them such fresh groundnuts. But now I buy them from these vendors,” says Dhananjayah, a customer.
