The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of D.G.Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam, organised the second edition of the four-day SHG-College Bazaar. Handicraft products were displayed and sold by members of self-help groups attached to Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women.

The stalls had displayed fancyjewelleries, jute products, toys , candles, and food products.

The exhibition, inaugurated by Director of Collegiate Education, T. Senthamizh Selvi, enabled the SHG members to find new market avenues and promote their products among youth. It was also intended to utilise the skills and knowledge of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell members to provide support to SHGs by doing case study analysis about the sustainability and viability of the business proposition of SHG women and convert them into micro enterprises.

Marking the event, the college principal, S. Narasimhan, said that these activities would serve the twin objective of sensitising the student community about the socio-economic issues of women in general and help to know the entrepreneurial skills exhibited by SHG women in particular. Secretary of the college, P. Haridas, observed that the event created social awareness among the students, through a participatory approach in the economic development of women.

The faculty coordinator of the ED Cell P. Malarvizhi mentioned that the entrepreneurial qualities of the members will be strengthened as they involve themselves in the preparation of feasibility report.

The stalls displayed fancy jewelleries, jute products, toys, candles and food products.
