Doctors' Day celebrations were held at the Tamil Nadu Headquarters of Indian Medical Association in Tambaram on July 18. Doctors, who had made significant contributions in their areas of specialisation, were honoured.

Mayilvahanan Natarajan, Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University was the chief guest at the function that was presided over by S.S.Sukumar, State president of Tamil Nadu branch of IMA. Tambaram MLA S.R.Raja released a book on Dr. B.C.Roy.

The awardees included A.M. Ikram, N.Muthurajan, P.Nandagopalaswamy, Paul S.Chellappa, C.Thangamuthu and K.Thangavelan.

The Dr. M.S.Ashraf Award went to social worker Sujatha Srinivasan.

T.N.Ravishankar, State secretary and K.Mutha, finance secretary, were also present on the occasion.
