Denmark doctor honoured

In recognition of his outstanding contributions, achievements and services rendered to micro and macro-vascular complications of diabetes, Peter Rossing, Head, Research and Chief Physician, Steno Diabetes Centre, Denmark, was conferred with the Prof. M. Viswanathan Honour Award. V. Kanagasabai, Dean, Madras Medical College, and Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, Chennai, who was the chief guest, presented the award to Mr.Peter Rossing.

The award was instituted by M.V. Hospital for Diabetes and Prof. M. Viswanathan Diabetes Research Centre and World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Research, Education and Training in Diabetes.

Mr. Peter Rossing thanked the committee for selecting him for the award and he gave a presentation on ‘prevention of kidney impairment due to diabetes.’

Vijay Viswanathan, Head and Chief Diabetologist, M.V. Hospital for Diabetes, Royapuram, spoke about the need for regular screening to detect diabetes complications. Narasinghan, Dean, spoke about the need to treat cardiovascular risk factors to prevent diabetes complications.
