Chains snatched from women

A 30-year-old woman commuter was robbed of her gold chain weighing around 10 sovereigns while she was travelling in a suburban electric train on Monday evening.

Railway police sources said Bhavani, a resident of West Tambaram, had boarded a fast local service at Mambalam railway station at 8.45 p.m. on Monday.

When the train reached Tambaram, she realised that her gold chain was robbed. The compartment in which she was travelling in the Chennai Beach – Tirumalpur fast local service was jam packed, police said, adding investigations were on.

A 45-year-old woman was relieved of her gold chain by two motorcycle-borne men in West Tambaram on Tuesday morning.

S.Indra of Rajiv Street had gone out and was returning home when the men, travelling on a motorcycle, intercepted her and snatched the gold chain weighing around 7 sovereigns and sped away.
