Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP), Ashok Nagar Branch, Rotary Club of Pallava and Dharma Vikaas Charitable Trust celebrated Bharati Day on December 12 at Jawahar Vidyalaya School, Ashok Nagar.
Essay writing, singing and oratorical competitions were conducted for Corporation, Government High Schools and private school students, in which more than 100 students participated.
Saradha Nambi Arooran, Commissioner, Right to Information, was the chief guest. She gave away prizes to the winners of the competition. The chief guest was welcomed by the Secretary Jayasree Sridharan and president Usha Hariharan. Ms. Arooran, in her speech, showered encomium on Bharati and Avvai and narrated how Bharati admired Avvai. Jayagopal Garodia School (West Mambalam) students performed a folk dance which earned them adulation and prize at the National Group Song Competition held at Sonepet, Haryana, conducted by Bharat Vikas Parishad. BVP along with Dharma Vikaas Charitable Trust donated artificial limb to K. Raman (78) who lost his leg due to diabetics. Annamalai, president of Rotaty Club Pallava, along with Kannan, Founder-Managing Trustee, delivered the limb.
The judges for the competition were Ramani Bhagawathar and Narasimhan, former GM of Bank of Baroda.
