SOKA IKEDA College of Arts and Science for Women conducted its 11th sports meeting on March 5. V. Mahadevan, Assistant Director of Physical Education, University of Madras, accepted the salute of the march past contingent, after the ceremonial hoisting of flag and the lighting of torch ceremony. The chief guest declared the sports meet open by symbolically letting doves fly.

Mr. Mahadevan in his address stressed on the importance of a sound mind in a sound body. Physical activity is extremely important to tone our body and keep us in good spirits. Quoting from Swami Vivekananda, he said that the power to achieve is latent in each and every individual. He asked the students to adhere to the qualities of self-confidence and social adjustment to come up in life. Acquiring knowledge and being dedicated towards one work will surely help one to achieve success.

S. Kavitha from Tamil Nadu Special Police Force and also a sports personality, lauded the efforts of the students in pursuing physical activities along with the academic achievements.

STUDENTS OF SBIOA Model Matriculation and Higher Secondary School, Mogappair, celebrated a gala function to observe extra-curricular and co-curricular activities (ECA) valedictory and House Day on March 23.

Special guests, C. Selvaraj, principal of St. Thomas College of Arts and Science, Koyambedu, actor K.R. Singamuthu and R. Gnanasekaran, Asian Games gold medallist, while distributing the prizes emphasised the holistic development of the students. Students who excelled in extracurricular activities received prizes and certificates and they staged a variety entertainment, which proved a big draw for the audience. Correspondent of the school T.P. Chandrasekaran offered his felicitations to students and teachers. Principal J. Ebenezer Samraj welcomed the gathering and treasurer of SBIOA Educational Trust R. Venkata Subramanian delivered the presidential address.

The annual report of extra curricular activities was presented by cultural secretary Hemalata Venkatesan, and housemaster-Cheran House, R. Harihara Subramanian, placed the annual report of all the four house activities.

S. Sampath Narayanan, housemaster-Cholan House, proposed a vote of thanks.
