Shikshaa Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Hastinapuram, Chromepet, celebrated its 18th annual day on February 5, in the school premises. C. R. Baskaran, founder, Human Rights International Limited, complimented the school authorities for their service towards the society and proposed to award ‘Needhiyin Kural' award to the secretary Kanchana Ranjit. School president Ranjit distributed the merit cum scholarships to the children.

The cultural programme stole the hearts of the audience and they were enthralled by the Tamil play ‘Panchali Sabatham' and English play ‘Dear Parents'. The children tapped their feet to the western tunes and the variety dance was the talk of the day. School secretary Ms. Kanchana Ranjit welcomed the gathering followed by the annual report read by the principal Amuthalakshmi. Vice-principal Varudhini proposed a vote of thanks.



Jaigopal Garodia Girls High School, Nanganallur conducted sports events and the girls participated with great enthusiasm. School Interact Club, in-charge of the sports events, is being sponsored by Rotary Club of Nanganallur.

R. Suryanarayanan, president-elect for Rotary year 2011-2012, K. Sundararajan, Director-Vocational Services and K.S. Srinivasan, Assistant Governor RI District 3230 were chief guests for the valedictory of the sports meet held at Nanganallur on February 14. Headmistress of the school, Vijaya welcomed the gathering. In his address, Mr. R. Suryanarayanan assured that more competitions will be conducted in the coming years. J. Sowmiya of Class VIII won championship for under-14, whereas R. Ishwarya of Class IX and G. Vidyalakshmi of XI respectively, qualified for championships for in under-17 and under-19 categories respectively.


Pammal Sri Sankara Vidyalaya organised a seminar for its teachers on the topic ‘Efficiency to effectiveness' on February 22. Noted Psychologist and professional counsellor Nalini Ravindran delivered the lecture, which was attended by more than 150 teachers. The programme was organised as part of Sri S.M. Gowrishankar Memorial Endowment Lectures. Correspondent of the school S. Visvanathan presided over and secretary R. Gopalan welcomed the gathering. School principal Malathy Balakrishnan gave an introduction about the guest.



A graduation of students of the S.G.D.A. S.C.S. Kindergarten Play School was held on March 6. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting S. Jagathrakshagan was the chief guest. He inaugurated the new block of the play school named in memory of Shrimathi Gomathi Devi Agarwal. Her son K.K. Agarwal, industrialist, Labour Welfare Minister T.M. Anbarasan and R. Pitchai, Joint Director of Matriculation School were among others present on the occasion. V. Santhanam and Baby Saroja, school correspondent and principal respectively were also present and spoke.


Madras High Court Judge S. Rajeswaran presented the degrees and awards to meritorious students at the 11th graduation ceremony of Easwari Engineering College on March 5.

Two university first rank holders V. Nikileshwari (MCA) and M. Prabakaran (M.E. - Communication System) were among the 13 rank holders, 185 post-graduates and 480 under-graduates, who were awarded merit certificates, medals and degrees in the presence of parents and faculty.

P. Ravi, co-chairman, SRM Group of Institutions and pro-chancellor, SRM University presided over the function and congratulated the rank holders, college toppers, graduates and staff members. College principal K. Abdul Ghani welcomed the gathering and presented the annual report.
