The underground cable laying work at Bapunagar in S R Nagar has left the roads in a bad shape.
The work is in progress since five months and a large portion of the colony road had been dug up in a phased manner.
Though the residents are happy about the work, the delay in carrying out restoration work is not going well with the locals. The road has been reduced to a narrow path that is posing hardship to the motorists.
“Two four wheelers cannot pass through the road in one go, either of the driver has to take his vehicle in reverse direction until he approaches a wide or some even road,” says Rajesh, a cab driver.
Huge mounds of earth lie parallel to the existing narrow road stretch and create problem for the road users. “There is fear of hitting these hard soil mounds and damaging the vehicle, moreover they are quite slippery,” says Kailash, software professional who owns a car.
The road stretch in its muddy form rakes in heavy dust causing inconvenience to families put up in this residential area.
“It has become a menace for us, we can hardly open the windows of the house,” says a house wife.
“The concerned can at least sprinkle some water regularly, it will help settle the loose mud and reduce the dust,” suggests Vinod, a resident.
