Ayyappa poojas are held every year during the month of December all over the city and its suburbs. Tambaram Ayyappa Seva Sangam organised the 46th annual Mandala Ayyappa Pooja Celebrations at Baby High School in West Tambaram on December 18. The day began with maha ganapathy homam followed by laksharchanai and annadhaanam.  

In the evening, a procession was held followed by a devotional music concert by U.K. Murali and troupe. A large number of devotees and residents from Tambaram and nearby places attended the puja.

S. Ramesh, Dhanapal and K.V. Vijayakumar, president, secretary and treasurer respectively of the Seva Sangam were among others present on the occasion. It is being held for 46 years in a row at the same venue and is the oldest mandala pooja celebrations in this region. The Seva Sangam also handed over Rs. 50,000 to the Baby School's building fund. 

At Bharath Nagar

Sri Maharajothi Ayyappa Bhaktha Sabha also conducted its ayyappa pooja celebrations for the 12th year in a row. The puja was held at Bharath Nagar in Selaiyur on December 10. A procession carrying an image of Lord Ayyappa led to the pooja venue accompanied by the traditional panchavaadhya melam. A devotional concert by Osai was also held.
