Valluvar Gurukulam Higher Secondary School, West Tambaram received a National award from Government of India for cleanliness, sanitation and ecological conservation. D.K.Srinivasan, Secretary of the school received the award at a grand function held last year. in New Delhi. Valluvar Gurukulam School was conferred per cent in “Blue Category”, under the National School Sanitation rating 2012 towards Health, Well-being and Dignity among the schools from all over India.
From humble beginnings the school now is excelling in education as well as extra-curricular activities such as sports, debates, general knowledge and other activities.
The school was commended for its eco-friendly atmosphere. Set in picturesque surroundings the management places great emphasis on all round development of the child.
The Light Fest celebration of Hindu Mission School of Nursing and Hindu Mission College of Nursing, Tambaram, Chennai was held recently. S.Ani Grace Kalaimathi, Registrar (in charge) Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai was the chief guest. Mr. Srinivasan, Secretary, welcomed the gathering and D.K.Sriram, Medical Director, Hindu Mission Hospital, Tambaram, spoke about the noble profession of nursing and said it was the only profession where there was ever increasing demand both in India and abroad.
He also added that nurses are backbone of the health care industry. R.Sowmi Narayana, Medical Superintendent, Hindu Mission Hospital, and Kokila, lecturer also spoke.
