The Rotary Club of Madras recently conferred the “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award” on Britannia Industries Ltd. The award was given in recognition of the good work done by the Britannia Nutrition Foundation.

Non-profit body

The Foundation is an independent non-profit body dedicated to addressing the malady of child malnutrition in India, thereby helping secure the right of children to optimal growth and development. The Rotary Club of Madras is especially impressed by the sustainable nature of the Foundation's work and the fact that it is integrated into Britannia's core business.

Vinita Bali, Managing Director of Britannia Industries, accepted the award on behalf of the company and said “I am delighted to receive this award.

In Britannia we are focusing on children and malnutrition because we believe that a healthy child will go on to become a responsible and fit adult.”

In order that the award serves as a catalyst for a lasting service initiative, the Club launched the “Rotary Club of Madras-Britannia Nutrition Initiative” on the occasion.

Britannia has agreed to partner with the Club by providing specially made iron fortified biscuits free of charge as the first phase of the initiative. The biscuits will be distributed as part of the Club's Nutritious Meals Programmes.
