Railway crossings in the twin cities lack adequate railings and fencing. Most of the motorists instead of waiting for the train to pass push their vehicles below the railway gate. Though many accidents occur due to the practice these deaths have not acted as indicators for public to be avoid the hasty move and for the railway authorities to initiate steps.

The South Central Railway authorities on their part are contended to publish statistics of fatal accidents taking place periodically instead of ensuring that track fencing is carried out adequately for people. I request the railway authorities to properly take up fencing of the railway tracks and crossing especially at the Safilguda and Khairtabad railway crossing.

Tab on drunken driving

Every time an accident occurs the government agencies begin a blame game after waking up from the slumber. The recent bus accident at Maharashtra which resulted in 30 deaths is the latest incident. Instead of blaming some one for the accident the transport department should conduct periodically checks on the borders like to keep tab on drunken driving. The department should also check for the speed lock systems and prevail upon the manufactures to have a prescribed speed lock limit and proper mechanisms to check it.

Avoid splurging, feed the needy

I had seen a news item in The Hindu published one week ago wherein it was mentioned that a person was catering to the poor by supplying ‘jowar rotis’ and ‘dal’ for Rs.2.

India stands second in production of fruits, vegetables, milk and egg production. But 20-40 percent of the produce is spoiled by the time it reaches market due to manual harvesting methods, non availability of transport, handling, and lack of cold storage or warehouses facility. In order to reduce spoilage investment in infrastructure are required through public and private participation.

Wastage of cooked food is another common wastage. In a global study it is revealed that nearly 40 percent of cooked food is wasted in marriages and religious congregations. Every one is aware that it has become a fashion or status symbol to include several dishes in marriages and functions. People should think twice before throwing away precious nutritious food which could have gone to the needy.

We should resolve that in such parties menu should include only few items and which could be consumed and enjoyed.

The benefits of such a menu are plenty such as reduction in environmental pollution, saving of precious food and curtailing expenditure. Save food to feed the needy.

Faulty telephone connection

We have been using landline telephone for the past 20 years vide telephone no.040 27225377. There is a lot of disturbance while we speak over the phone. The instrument provided is an old model of 1980 and it has become defunct.

We had also availed Broadband connection three years back but due to technical problems we got it disconnected. Several complaints have been given to the customer care on the above subject for the past two years but the problem still persists.

I request BSNL to immediately take action and see to it that the instrument is replaced with new digital instrument and disturbances are rectified.

Tough time at SBH Vanasthalipuram

Despite handling huge business State Bank of Hyderabad, Vanasthalipuram does not have electronic token issuing machine and token display system.

The customers and other general public face problem in carrying out their transactions.

The counter designated for handling the passbook entry works is in the middle of other counters creating problem for the people instead it can be kept at the entrance at help desk as primarily people just visit to get their entries done at this counter. Then is different cash counters are without any display boards and after waiting for long time people are directed to other counters. Corrective steps in this regard would be a welcome move.

Check negligent driving

I often notice drivers talking with passengers, listening songs through mobile ear phones, smoking all the while they are driving.

It is dangerous as it not only lands them into trouble but also affects other road users. Instances of negligent driving especially during nights are also on the rise.

The authorities concerned should permit the buses duly certified for roadworthiness by the competent authorities for every trip for long journey and also conduct check on the drivers on certain points on the route
