Minister inaugurates MCC's Union Society

Environment Minister T.K.M. Chinnayya inaugurated the College Union Society of Madras Christian College (for the academic year 2011-2012), East Tambaram, at a function held on the campus on July 16.

A former student of MCC, Mr. Chinnayya studied PUC in the year 1976-77 and was also a resident of Bishop Heber Hall. Deborah Initha, Deputy Development Commissioner, Madras Export Processing Zone – Special Economic Zone, delivered the inaugural address.

The Minister said that during his days in the college, there were fewer female students, but there was a vast difference now, an indication of women's empowerment. He was glad to note that the importance given to discipline continued even now. Principal R. W. Alexander Jesudassan also spoke.

Others present on the occasion included Surendran Purushotam, vice president, A. Peer Mohammed Hadel and K.Vigneshwara, student secretary and president respectively, according to a note from William Gnanasekaran, Alumni and Public Relations Officer of the college.
