Dr. S.M. Balaji, has been elected as the president of 7th World Biennial International Cleft lip and Palate Congress by International Cleft Lip and Palate Foundation (ICPF), a non-profit foundation concerning children and adolescents afflicted with cleft lip and palate and facial disharmony.
Dr. S.M. Balaji is the first Indian and the first from a developing nation to be elected as congress president.
The honour is in recognition for his service, treatment and care for patients suffering from craniofacial deformities.
Voluntary delegates, scientists, researchers and members of Cleft rehabilitations from more than 50 countries will attend the conference, which is to be held from May 7 to 11 of 2012 at The Republic of Seychelles, an island in the Africa.
Chennai based Balaji Dental and Craniofacial Hospital will be the Secretariat for this ICPF conference 2012.
