Lad Baazar in Charminar is the place to head to for bangles. The shops lining the streets display an array of bangles in various shapes, sizes, colours, trends and ranges.

Combinations of metal bangles with stone-studded bangles, multicoloured sets of bangles or colourful mirror work ‘kadas' baffle the buyer with their sheer variety.

Some shops provide options like mix and match and trial. One can get a good buy if one knows the art of bargaining. One can buy a bangle costing Rs. 300 for just Rs. 180 or a bangle costing Rs. 500 for Rs 250.

Though all may not agree to bargain to a lesser rate yet some do give in. Reasons like superior quality, delicacy are cited for not willing to reduce the price. Says Usha a customer, “I always quote the minimum price. If at all they do not agree I increase it by Rs. 10 or 15 but not more than that. Most of the times the shopkeepers do agree.”

Says Ahmed, a shopkeeper, “in order to meet our expenses we have to quote such prices.”
