It is a comparatively new alumnus but former students of St. Patrick’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Adyar, are doing everything possible to help their institution.

The old students are organising the second edition of the Pongal carnival on January 12.

The day-long fair will have games, food and entertainment. Proceeds from the fair will go towards educating underprivileged students of the school.

“Last year, nearly 3,500 people attended the carnival and we collected Rs. 14 lakh. This time, it should get even better,” says Captain Shibu Isaac, secretary of St. Patrick’s Alumni Association, Adyar. He along with 10 members constitute the core team organising the carnival.

Started in 2009, St. Patrick’s Alumni has around 600 members with chapters in Australia and America. Over the years, it has helped set up an English lab in the school. “We are looking at setting up solar panels to substitute for electricity in the classrooms,” said Isaac.

The carnival is on from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the school grounds in Gandhi Nagar, Adyar.

Former students who wish to enrol with the association, can call 7299977764.
