Alankamony, Chithra Priya felicitated

Young squash player Anaka Alankamony and female biker R. Chithra Priya were honoured with the Young Achiever award and the Brave Heart award respectively by the Rotary Club of Madras Chenna Patna here recently. “I really feel touched by the honour bestowed on me,” said the 17-year-old Anaka, who is ranked number two in the women's World Junior standings. Chithra Priya spoke about the hardships involved in traversing a distance of 1650 kilometres across India in less than 24 hours. The feat earned her an award from the Iron Butt Association, an American organisation dedicated to endurance motorcycle riding. “By accomplishing such a feat, I feel like I have crossed barriers,” she said. Indra Subramaniyam, Chairman, Annettes Club, RI District 3230, presided over and gave away the citations. S. Mohan, President, Rotary Club of Madras Chenna Patna, and R. Manikandan, Secretary, Rotary Club of Madras Chenna Patna, were present on the occasion.
