Summer is not just the season of lingering holidays and luscious mangoes. It is also the time when the city is flooded with the sweet smelling jasmine flowers.

As the scorching heat gives way to cool breeze in the evenings, the heady fragrance of the white flowers wafts from the baskets of vendors found at almost every street corner, in front of temples and at the market place. Deities are generously decorated with the flowers during this season in temples and puja rooms. Women too find this the right time to adorn their hair with the fragrant strings of‘Malli'to their heart's content.
