Works to give a facelift to the Ambur Railway Station are in progress. Improved passenger amenities and additional facilities are being established at the railway station.
The old station building has been demolished to give way to a new complex with more passenger amenities, while works to increase the height of platform number 1 is going on. Authorities said that the newly constructed station building complex consists of more passenger amenities, including two retiring rooms, a dormitory, upper class waiting room and separate waiting rooms for men and women.
The idea of constructing a new complex, according to authorities, was to improve the facilities for passengers and give a facelift to the railway station. Works at the new complex are nearing completion with only the finishing works remaining. With the station consisting of three platforms, the height of platform number 1 is being increased on par with platform number 2 and 3. Work for increasing the height has commenced at the station.
Previously, the station had only one entrance for incoming and outgoing vehicles. Now, separate pathways for entry and exit for vehicles and passengers has been established at the station. Authorities said that later parking facilities would be available at the station and small gardens would also be established.
