Why I hate... Kadalikka Neramillai

Remarkable is the word to describe this film! Till today, it stands like the Everest in the genre of comedy. No other film has matched its height of success or level of realistic humour. Wondering why then I hate it? Simple. Out of sheer jealousy. Is n’t hatred most often the result of envy? After being in the field for so many years, I feel sad I have not been able to achieve what Chitralaya Gopu’s dialogues and Sridhar’s picturisation did decades ago. And imagine with no technological aid! It is generally felt that absurdity is comedy. But Kadalikka Neramillai proved it wrong. It had strong youth appeal and entertained elders too. What’s more, a major part of the cast comprised newcomers. Though people enjoy my plays and serials, many a time they come up to me and ask why I don’t do natural humour like Chitralaya Gopu. Not one to give up, I tried it in my film Jery, which also featured newcomers. But I failed miserably. So I cannot but hate the unbeatable Kadalikka Neramillai.
