Last week, debut producer-director Nara Bindu Pavankumar chose the Adda pub in Bhagyanagar Colony, Kukatpally to film a song sequence on lead star Rohith and model turned actresses Pooja and Sirisha under the choreography of Venu- Pal.
While the peppy number, figarante luckundaali basu…Foju kotti feese pothe freezae ,’ tuned by the upcoming music director Saketh Sairam is played on the tape, Rohith and the two model-turned-actresses Pooja and Sirisha place fast paced steps at the same time giving lip movement to the lyric. Cinematographer Janardhan Rayapati shot the sequence.
“It is a teasing song that’s a part of the story; not an item number,” elaborates Pavankumar, lest it is mistaken for an item song or a special number. “It is part of the storyline. The two girls tease him and there is a reason behind it,” he smiles withholding the situation that leads to the song.
“It is a 100 per cent entertainer; that’s why we have given a sub-title ‘fun unlimited’ to the main title. I can confidently say that such a novel subject has not been dealt in recent times in Telugu cinema,” he says. Pavankumar is not new to the industry; he has interests in cinema and has relatives and friends working in the industry.
“I have been toying with the idea of producing and directing a movie for the past five to six years. We worked (along with story and dialogue writer Tirupati Kiran) on the story for about a year,” he adds. Half Boil is a curious title which he says is apt for his movie.
Rohith who shot into fame with a runaway hit, 6 Teens and acted in a few lead roles, is back after a brief hiatus. Pavan says, “He plays a software engineer, but the story does not revolve around that backdrop. It is totally fresh and once you see you will agree. As for the two heroines, Siri is a Telugu girl making her debut while Kavya Singh did a film Sorry Teacher . Her role holds the key to the central plot.”
Of the five songs, two are yet to be filmed. “One is a solo song on the hero and another, a montage song that we plan to shoot in Hyderabad in the next schedule along with the remaining talkie part. We have already shot about 80 per cent of the movie,” says Pavankumar. A word of appreciation for his music director follows: “Each tune composed by Saketh Sairam is a beauty.”
Jeeva, Sri Lakshmi, Prithvi, Gautham Raju, Phani, ‘Chitram’ Srinu, Sarathkumar, Abhishek, Sandhya Jhanak are also cast in the movie slated to release this summer.
