How did it happen?
Entering the Telugu movie industry was an obvious choice as my father always wanted to see me as an actor. I began my stint in the movies as an associate director to my brother (Puri Jagannath). To get into acting I played a supporting role with Raviteja in Idiot. I was his friend in the movie. So that took care of most of my tension while facing the camera for the first time. I started as the associate director in 1996 and in 2003 did Idiot. It was a good exposure for me to make the transition from direction to acting. Then finally in 2004, my first movie 143 opposite Samiksha was released. 143 was directed by my brother. My second movie Danger was a multi-starrer thriller.
How was the experience?
My third movie didn't do well, I didn't give up or lose hope. Ups and downs are part of this profession. Acting is different from direction and it needs a lot of concentration of body and mind. I liked the experience of getting into one character from the other. I have mostly done romantic movies and I enjoy doing them. Bumper offer was slightly different. I got a new look and had loads of action scene, even though I had a lady to romance in the film, it was not just a romantic movie. It had a fair amount of comedy as well. I consider Bumper Offer as a movie that gave me the right break.
How was the journey so far?
So far I have enjoyed my stint in the industry and can't imagine myself elsewhere. The industry is like home and I want to grow with it. Ever since I started acting, i.e., from 2004 till date I have done five movies and I am liking it. I want to go slow and act in roles that suit me. Very soon we will be shooting for my next movie under Gopi Ganesh's direction. It is a 30-day schedule and will be shot entirely in Rome. And then in July I will be starting work for a movie which will be directed by V.N. Aditya. But I am still waiting for the super-hit of mine.
